PURPOSE: To make it possible to rationalize data generation service considerably, by scanning columns to set RS stable elements and by performing punch and by resetting a superposition synthesizing circuit at the end of punch.

CONSTITUTION: Buffer register 4 decodes recording in a magnetic medium and stores temporarily the output of an encoder which is not shown in the figure, and superposition synthesizing circuit 5 synthesizes recording values of register 4 by superposition and operates OR of them. Here, in case of orderly punching when information of one column of the magnetic medium is read and RS bistable elements corresponding to one-display bits are set, punch is performed immediately, and circuit 5 is reset at the end of punch of one digit. Meanwhile, in case of multipunching, columns 2-1...2-5 be scanned, and RS bistable elements 5-1...5-5 are set, and punch is performed, and circuit 5 is reset at the end of punch. Thus, data generation service is rationalized considerably.
