The controller 5 is incorporated in an air-conditioner 5, and an imaging part 10 images the front direction of the air-conditioner at fixed intervals. Imaged image data is sent to an operation processing part 11. An optical flow calculating part 31 calculates a moving vector on the basis of the image data, and a vector area extracting part 32 extracts an area where the magnitude of the motion vector is larger than a prescribed value. An operation pattern detecting part 33 detects an operation pattern of an operation object person on the basis of the vector area, and a determining part 34 compares and determines whether an operation pattern approximates to a reference pattern. When the determining part 34 determines a reference pattern that approximates to the operation pattern, an outputting part 36 outputs an operation signal set in accordance with the reference signal to the air-conditioner. Consequently, the air-conditioner can be remotely operated without using the remote control to improve convenience.
