Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a cooling device for a water-cooled engine wherein racing of a water pump is not generated with no residual air in a pump chamber even in the case of arranging the water pump in an upper part of the engine.
CONSTITUTION: In the case of providing a water pump 4 of a water-cooled engine 1 in its upper part, water is supplied from a reservoir tank 14. A thermostat valve 12 and a jiggle valve 13, closed by its own weight and also opened by a pressure from a pump chamber 3, are provided in an inlet side cooling water pipe 10 in the vicinity of the upward of the pump chamber 3. Air in the pump chamber 3 opens the jiggle valve 13 to move into the inlet side cooling water pipe 10 and also impeding movement of air toward the pump chamber 3 from the inlet side cooling water pipe 10.
