To provide a cotton-like structure having such a shape as can easily closely adhere to the outer surface of an end-side anastomostic region, applicable to a micro blood anastomosis performed under microscopic operation, and having a function of gradually releasing an included medicament in the process of degradation and absorption of biodegradable polymers, and to provide a method of manufacturing the same.
The cotton-like structure for the circulatory organ is made of biodegradable polymers. The average fiber diameter is in the range from 100 nm to 10,000 nm, and the average apparent density is in the range from 10 to 95 kg/m3. The cotton-like structure for the circulatory organ includes the medicament in the fiber. The method of manufacturing the cotton-like structure includes a step of manufacturing a solution by dissolving the biodegradable polymers and the medicament at the same time in a solvent; a step of applying the high voltage to the solution; a step of jetting the solution; a step of forming a fiber structure by evaporating the solvent from the jetted solution; a step of eliminating the charge of the formed fiber structure; and a step of accumulating the fiber structures by the elimination of the charge.
