To provide a cover mounting mechanism which can mount a cover on the base of a hanging rod by one-touch operation.

The base 11 of a hanging rod is made in the form of a disk, and a spring 16 in a ring form of synthetic resin is installed on the oversurface of the base 11. The base 11 is provided with two spring holes 21 stretching to the left and right in positions symmetric about the center while the spring 16 is equipped with two arms 18 extending outward to the left and right about the center, and pawls 19 are formed at the tip of each arm 18. A locating means is furnished to retain the on-the-base central position of the spring 16, and recesses 15 are provided in the opposing positions in diametric direction on the internal circumferential surface of a cover 14, which is mounted on the base 11 by threading the arms 18 through the holes 21 and fitting the pawls 19 in the recesses 15.
