Abstract:
To obtain a crude tetracyclododecene mixture capable of providing high purity tetracyclododecene having ≤1.0 wt.% cyclopentadiene trimer content in good productivity, provide a method for producing such crude tetracyclododecene mixture, obtain high purity tetracyclododecene from such crude tetracyclododecene mixture and provide a production apparatus therefor.
A mixture in which a molar ratio of norbornene to cyclopentadiene is ≥3.4 is reacted by retaining the mixture at 170°C to 205°C for 1-10 hr to provide the objective crude tetracyclododecene mixture. Further, the crude tetracyclododecene mixture is purified by distillation to efficiently produce the objective high-purity tetracyclododecene.
