To enhance reliability of a refrigerating machine (R) or a cooling system (S) by elongating life of a cooling fan (33) in the case where at least a compressor 4 is cooled by the cooling fan (33) in the cryogenic cooling system (S) for cooling a cooling object matter (1) to a set cryogenic temperature level by a Stirling pulse pipe refrigerating machine (R) having a pulse pipe (14).
The cooling fan (33) is switched in accordance with surface temperature (T) of the compressor (4) to an operation state when surface temperature (T) is not less than a threshold value (TH), and switched to an operation interruption state when the surface temperature is lower than the threshold value (TH) so that accumulated operation time of the cooling fan (33) is shortened and life is extended.
