To control or regulate an electric charge of particles so that image quality is made optimum by incorporating a nonpolar liq., a pigment, a resin, preferably a thermoplastic resin, a cyclodextrin-contg. electric charge controlling agent and an electric'charge inducing agent.
This liq. developer contains a nonpolar liq., a pigment, a resin, preferably a thermoplastic resin, a cyclodextrin-contg. electric charge controlling agent and an electric charge inducing agent. This electric charge inducing agent is contained by an effective amt., e.g., about 0.001-5wt.%, preferably about 0.005-1wt.%, and it is added to the electric charge controlling agent previously mixed with the toner resin and the pigment. The cyclodextrin is, e.g. α-, β- or γ-cyclodextrin, branched α-, '- or γ-cyclodextrin or a substd. α-, β- or γ- cylodiextrin deriv. having an arbitrary degree of substitution. A colorant preferably dispersed in resin particles may be contained if necessary.
