PURPOSE: To provide a large-sized cylindrical oxide superconducting magnetic shield body having a superconducting oxide crystal phase which is excellent in magnetic shielding power and orientation and a method for baking a cylindrical oxide superconducting material used for the shield body.
CONSTITUTION: This cylindrical oxide superconducting magnetic shield body in which a superconducting oxide crystal phase is oriented and grown in the peripheral direction of the cylindrical body is increased in magnetic shield current and excellent in external magnetic field shielding power. A cylindrical oxide superconducting material which is used for the shield body and is a practical large size is obtained by baking a cylindrical body lying down in a baking furnace with a prescribed temperature distribution while the cylindrical body is rotated and a soaking zone is provided above the cylindrical body.
