PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form an approximately same magnetization pattern on a recording medium even though a transfer rate is different by emphasizing high frequency components in accordance with the transfer rate, generating the recording current, in which the frequency band to be covered is limited, and recording the current.
SOLUTION: A first current I0-IE1, which is the source of the recording current corresponding to the transfer rate, is generated in a first variable current source 9. A second current IE0, which is the emphasized amount of the high frequency components corresponding to the transfer rate, is generated to a second variable current source 10. A third current IE1, which is the compensation value of the high frequency components of the frequency band to be covered in accordance with the transfer rate, is generated to a third variable current source 26. Under this condition, first to third switches 5, 6 and 25 are switched based on corresponding recording data D2, first timing signals HS0 and second timing signals HS1, the current IE0 is added to the emphasis position of the high frequency components of the first current I0-IE1, the current IE1 is added to the frequency band, which is to be covered, of the current I0-IE1, and a recording source current I1 is generated.
