PURPOSE: To obtain a data recording medium such as an optical disk having high stability against heat by providing an org. film containing a compound represented by a specific general formula and providing a series of small recessed parts for recording data to the film.
CONSTITUTION: The org. film provided on the substrate of an optical disk contains a polymethine compound represented by general formula (wherein R1-R5 are a hydrogen atom, a substituted or non-substituted alkyl group, a substituted or non-substituted aryl group, a substituted or non-substituted styryl group or a substituted or non-substituted heterocyclic group, m is 0 or 1 and n is 0, 1 or 2) and a series of small optically detectable recessed parts separated from each other are formed to the org. film. This org. film has an absorption band on a long wavelength side and the data recorded on the org. film can be reproduced with a high S/N ratio and the stability against heat can be enhanced.
