Abstract:
PURPOSE: To allow the collection of energy higher than that limited by the allowable charging current and charging voltage of a battery by charging a series circuit of the battery and a capacitor with energy collected at the time of deceleration.
CONSTITUTION: When all switching elements 51, 54, 56 are turned OFF, charging current flows through a path of terminal P-a capacitor 52-a diode 53-a battery 1-terminal N thus charging the capacitor 52 and the battery 1. When the series circuit of the battery 1 and the capacitor 52 is charged with energy collected at the time of deceleration, energy higher than the level limited by the allowable charging current and voltage of the battery can be collected and restarting battery current can be reduced by feeding the auxiliary driving energy from the series circuit of the battery 1 and the capacitor 52 at the time of next and subsequent auxiliary driving. Furthermore, when the energy is collected sufficiently for the capacitor 52, only the capacitor 52 can be operated as a DC power supply.
