PURPOSE: To prepare a new dihydropyridine derivative useful as carcinostatic activity accelerators.
CONSTITUTION: The compd. of formula I [Het is formula II or formula III; A is a direct bond, CH2, or -CH2-CH2-, or, in the case Het is formula II, furthermore, -CH=CH-; R is H, a halogen, 1-3C alkyl or 1-3C alkoxy; R3 and R4 are a 1-3C alkyl in which the ω position is substitutable with a 1-3C alkoxy, and furthermore, either is formula IV [(m) and (n) are 1 to 3, Ra and Rb are H or a 1-3C alkyl]; R5 is H or a 1-6C alkyl substitutable with NRcRd (Rc and Rd are H or a 1-4C alkyl); either R1 or R2 is OR' (R' is a 1-6C alkyl in which the ω position is substitutable with CN or a 1-3C alkoxy), and the other is a 1-3C alkyl, OR', NR"R"' (R" and R"' are H or a 1-3C alkyl) or the like], such as 1,4-dihydro-2,6-diethyl-4[4-(1H-imidazol-1-yl)phenyl-3,5-pyridinedicarboxylic acid. The compd. is obtd. by bringing a compd. of formula V to react with a compd. of formula VI.
