Abstract:
PURPOSE: To readily deodorize the subject compound useful as a plasticizer used in producing silicone rubbers, a raw material for producing a silicone compound, etc., by heat-treating a hexamethyldisiloxane having unpleasant smell with an acid clay, followed by contact with active carbon.
CONSTITUTION: Into hexamethyldisiloxane having unpleasant smell, is added an acid clay in an amount of preferably 0.01-10% by weight and treated at 50-98°C while heating. The resultant mixture is then brought into contact with active carbon to completely deodorize the hexamethyldisiloxane.
