To provide a design method for a reactor core having a desired minimum control blade definition and its system.
In the method, a reference core design is generated based on a set of defined limit. The set of limit can include a target high-temperature excess reactivity to be fulfilled for a determined core energy cycle and a determined desired control blade definition set for the cycle. A proper subset of a non-irradiated fuel bundle receives a repeated improvement process including a step for exchanging at least an update non-irradiated fuel bundle with at least a selected non-irradiated fuel bundle at each fuel position and a step for simulating the reactor operation based on the reference core design for acquiring a plurality of powers to be ranked based on the set value of the defined limit. The power which is ranked highest can indicate an allowable core design having a core blade definition set to fill the target high-temperature excess reactivity constraint.
