PURPOSE: To provide a method of detecting a mis-mounted part and judging if an automatic recovery operation can be carried out or not.
CONSTITUTION: A detecting probe 1 is made to descend to a board hole 4a or a hole 4b where an insertion failure takes place and then pulled up if no part is present, and a board 3 is moved so as to make the hole 4a or the hole 4b located just under the probe 1. This operation is repeated a few times, it is detected that no mis-inserted part is present when the hole 4a or the hole 4b reaches under the probe 1. In operation, it is detected that a mis-inserted part is present when the probe 1 descends onto an electronic part 5. By these two detections, it can be judged that an automatic recovery operation can be carried out or not.
