The drive device for driving the display device provided with a plurality of pixels comprises a data processing part for selecting a plurality of output gradations on the basis of an input gradation of input image data from the outside and sending a plurality of output image data having the output gradation and a data driving part for applying data voltage corresponding to the output image data sent from the data processing part to the pixels. These output gradations are combinations in which an average side face gamma curve most approaches a front gamma curve out of at least one gradation group in which an average front transmission factor is substantially the same as the front transmission factor of the input gradation.
