PURPOSE: To provide a graphic processor capable of efficiently executing the management processing of graphic information.

CONSTITUTION: The group direction of document data is specified from a keyboard (S1), a vertical group exclusive character/horizontal group excluside character relational information table is retrieved and whether a vertical group exclusive character code or a horizontal group exclusive character code is included in document data or not is checked (S2). Then whether an exclusive character code in the reverse direction to the specified group direction is included in the extracted vertical group exclusive character code or horizontal group exclusive character code or not is checked (S3). When an exclusive character code in the reverse direction is included, the specified group direction exclusive character code is substituted for the reverse exclusive character code (S4), a corresponding table between a character code and character pattern data is referred to based upon an edited character code and document data in the specified group direction are prepared (S5).
