A voice coder 120 is provided with A, B and C type coding sections 121, 122 and 123 as three circuits which code voice data by mutually different algorithms. A noise suppressor 11 is provided with X, Y and Z type noise suppressor sections 111, 112 and 113 as three circuits which suppress background noise by mutually different algorithms. A suppress system switching control section 114 selects an optimum noise suppress section (any one of the sections 111, 112 and 113) in accordance with the functioning coding section (any one of the sections 121, 122 and 123) in the coder 120 based on the information from a coding system switching control section 124.
