Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a user to know that a receiver is normally operated in a certain necessary waiting time at the time of power supply and channel switching, and to preventing the waiting time from becoming made wasted in digital broadcasting.
SOLUTION: Digital broadcasting is received by a receiving part 5 and outputted from a loudspeaker 9. A holding sound as a waiting signal is generated by a holding sound generating part 15 under the control of a control part 11 in a waiting time for a channel switching operation or the like. The holding sound is obtained as an intermittent synthetic sound, and an intermittent pitch is shortened according to the remaining waiting time. In the other configuration, a channel selected by a user is received and outputted by using one receiving part, and a channel other than the selected channel is received and stored by the other receiving part in parallel. The reception signal of the channel after switching is read and outputted in the waiting time accompanied by the channel switching operation. Also, a user can be imparted of the program contents after switching by taking advantage the waiting time.
