To provide a digital signal generator and a moving direction detector for moving contact that can generate and output only one shot of a prescribed digital signal at prescribed timing even when receiving a digital signal having a signal width short enough not to be acquired by a clock.
A 1st latch section starts a latching operation in response to application of a pulse signal to an input terminal IN. A 2nd latch section starts its operation depending on the result of an AND arithmetic operation between a clock at the input of the pulse signal and a signal resulting from inverting the logic level of the clock during the operation of the 1st latch section. An AND element 9 outputs a pulse signal resulting from fully integrating the pulse width of the clock signal received first to an output terminal OUT after both the 1st latch section and the 2nd latch section are in latching operations. A 3rd latch section starts latching operations in response to an output signal from the AND element 9.
