To reduce a total size of a disc drive by shortening a moving distance of a head for the disc diameter.
This disc drive is provided with an arm fitting member 3 which can move in the radius direction of a disc 10a and a head arm 20 which is mounted at one end to the arm fitting member 3 and has a head section 9a at the other end and is also provided with a spring 5b which supports the head arm 20 to go forward and backward to and from the arm fitting member 3 and also activates the head arm 20 to one direction of its moving directions. When the arm fitting member 3 moves between the moving end in the external circumference side of the disc 10a and the recording section of the outer most circumference of the disc 10a, the head arm 20 goes forward and backward for the arm fitting member 3 depending on the moving direction of the arm fitting member 3.
