Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily control a clamp force applied to the disk clamper by providing a cylindrical disk clamp part for a spindle motor hub, a disc clamp spring member and a clamp ring capable of being expanded to the disk clamper.
SOLUTION: A cylindrical disk clamp part 98 of a spindle motor hub 70 is coaxial to a disk mount part 72 and a disk mount flange 74 and has a smaller diameter than a diameter of the part 72. Furthermore, a disk spring member 80 has a center opening 82 and the size of the opening 82 is selected so as to be slightly larger than a diameter of the clamp part 78 of the hub 70. Moreover, the inner diameter of a clamp ring 88 is selected to be fitted to the disk clamp part 78 of the hub 70. That is, the nominal inner diameter of the ring 88 is selected slightly smaller than the outer diameter of the clamp part 98 of the hub 70 when all assembly components are set within an operating temperature range defined by specifications of the disk drive.
