To provide a disk reproduction system which can obtain the highest reproduction speed of a system even for a disk which differs in track pitch.

The disk reproduction system equipped with a pickup 1 for reading information out of an information disk 2 where the data are recorded at a constant linear speed, a disk motor 16 for rotating the information disk 2, a digital signal processing means 7 which digitizes the data according to the reproduction format of the information disk 2, an interface means 19 which sends the digitally processed data out to an external device, and a buffer memory 18 for temporarily storing the data is provided with a means which detects the linear speed and track pitch of the information disk 2, and determines a reference value of speed control over the disk motor 16 according to the values of the detected linear speed and track pitch and the maximum diameter of a data recording area.
