To provide a display device displaying a high-luminance and high-quality image while contriving power saving, and also to provide electronic equipment equipped with the display device.
The display device includes: an optical modulation element equipped with a plurality of light transmitting window parts; a light source device 3 equipped with a light source 31 emitting light, and a phosphor 32 stimulated by the light source 31; a light guiding member 4 equipped with a cylindrical reflection surface 41 having a function to guide the light from the light source 31 to the optical modulation element; and a reflection part provided corresponding to a portion other than the light transmitting window parts near the light source 31 side of the optical modulation element and/or inside the optical modulation element and reflecting the light from the light guiding member 4 to the light guiding member 4 side. The cylindrical reflection surface 41 is converged from the optical modulation element side to the light source device 3 side so as to guide a part of the light reflected by the reflection part to the light transmitting window parts and also to guide remaining part thereof to the phosphor 32, and a tilt angle of the cylindrical reflection surface 41 to an axial line (optical axis OA) is 4 to 8.
