This display device is provided with a display body 10 comprising a transparent liquid crystal display panel 12 and a liquid crystal dimming panel 14 disposed in a rear face of the display panel 12 adhering to or with a space from it; a lighting device 24 lighting the liquid crystal dimming panel 14 from the rear face; an image sending device sending images to the display panel 12; and a control device controlling transparency/opacity of the dimming panel 14, on/off of the lighting device, and image sending/sending-stop of the image sending device to the display panel 12.
