Abstract:
To provide a display drive unit and its method whereby images with reduced false contours can be obtained.
A display drive unit has a brightness detecting part which detects the brightness of a display screen 4 from a digital image input signal 10 and a drive control part 3 which controls the display screen 4 in accordance with the digital image input signal 10 while performing switching control according to the detection result 20 of the brightness detecting part 2 to either display an entire brightness range at a step number of 2N or display a specific brightness range at gradations which comprise a step number of 2N.
