To obtain a dot recorder in which a high quality print comparable to a photography can be realized through a simple control structure while decreasing the upper margin as much as possible.
The dot recorder comprises a plurality of recording medium regulating sections 4 disposed oppositely to the head face of a recording head 3 while spaced apart from each other in the main scanning direction and regulating the interval of a recording medium 2 carried on the flat top surface 10 of the recording medium regulating section with respect to the dot forming element of the recording head, and a drive control section executing interlace recording system. The recording medium regulating section 4 is disposed such that the upstream side end part 13 of the flat top surface is located in an ink nozzle array 6. The drive control section records a first line using a nozzle at the rearmost end after the starting end 20 of the recording medium arrived at the upstream side end part 13 of the flat top surface 10 and positioned in place and then performs interlace recording by repeating sub-scanning of a specified sub-scanning distance and main scanning with the recording head.
