PURPOSE: To dress a wide area of abrasive cloth uniformly and efficiently by providing a support member with a brush mounting shaft which rotates on its axis and revolves about a drive shaft as the drive shaft turns.
CONSTITUTION: When a drive shaft 2 is rotated by operation of a drive source, a sun gear 16 is rotated, and this rotation is transmitted to two epicyclic gears 17. Then the epicyclic gears 17 and a support member 19 by which the gears 17 are freely rotationally supported all start to rotate in the opposite direction to the drive shaft 2, and a brush mounting shaft 25 supported against the support member 19 also revolves about the drive shaft 2. At the same time, the brush mounting shaft 25 is made to start rotating on its axis by meshing the epicyclic gears 17 with a driven shaft 27 mounted on the small diameter portion 26 of the brush mounting shaft 25; i.e., the rotation of the drive shaft 2 causes the brush mounting shaft 25 to revolve about the rotating shaft 2 while rotating on its own axis. Therefore, a wide area of abrasive cloth is uniformly dressed by a brush 28.
