To solve a problem of a generally-adopted hydraulic drive method for a transmission capable of outputting large force, wherein fuel consumption deteriorates by weight increase of a cylinder when requiring the large cylinder for the purpose of increase of a pressure reception area of the cylinder in order to increase the force and also deteriorates by weight increase of a pipe when requiring the pipe with high strength for the purpose of increase of base pressure in order to increase the force.
This drive device for the transmission has an electric motor generating drive force for engaging/disengaging a friction clutch; a rotary-linear conversion mechanism converting rotary motion of the electric motor into linear motion; and a hydraulic cylinder driven by the linear motion converted by the rotary-linear conversion mechanism, engaging/disengaging the friction clutch.
