To prevent generation of mode changeover hunting to prevent drivability in mode changeover control between a direct connection mode and a power circulation mode.
In this controller, normal transmission control in the power circulation mode is executed along a variable speed line in an upshift from F1 to F5 accompanying a changeover from the power circulation mode to the direct connection mode, executed because of increase of a vehicle speed VSP in a full-closing state of a throttle opening TVO. The changeover to the direct connection mode is started from F2 toward F3 along a line γ1 by retention of a CVT variable speed ratio. After F4 wherein an IVT variable speed ratio becomes a high-speed side IVT limit variable speed ratio γ2, the normal transmission control in the direct connection mode is executed along the variable speed line to execute the shift from F4 to F5. In a downshift followed by a direct connection mode to power circulation mode changeover from F5 to F1, a shift from F5 to F1 via F4, F6 and F2 is similarly performed to prevent the generation of the hunting in the mode changeover.
