Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving apparatus for a railway vehicle capable of improving workability at the time of maintenance.SOLUTION: A driving apparatus for a railway vehicle includes a wheel shaft, a main motor, a pinion gear, a main gear, and a gear case. The wheel shaft couples wheels. The main motor has a shaft disposed so as to be parallel to the wheel shaft. The pinion gear is attached to the shaft. The main gear is attached to the wheel shaft and engages with the pinion gear. The main gear is formed so as to have a diameter larger than that of the pinion gear. The gear case houses the pinion gear and the main gear. The gear case is formed by a main case and a sub case in a splittable manner in a predetermined direction in which the pinion gear and the main gear are aligned. The main case covers at least a part of the main gear. The sub case covers at least a part of the pinion gear.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
