PURPOSE: To provide a dry and hard barrel finishing machine by which a polishing process and a works/media selection process can be continuously realized at a low cost concerning facilities and operation, and which has an excellent effect to remove polishing dust which is produced in and remains in a polishing vessel, and also has an excellent effect to prevent the polishing dust, polishing media and polishing work destroyers, from being mixed in and remaining in a minute clearance between a rotary disc and a fixed vessel.

CONSTITUTION: Air and polishing dust in a polishing vessel part are collected by the intake of a dust collector 6, and outside air is supplied in the polishing vessel part through the intake hole 19 of a fixed vessel bottom opened to the fixed vessel bottom 1b and the intake hole 4a of a polishing vessel cover opened to the polishing vessel cover 4. A compressor is not connectedly provided to the intake hole 19 of the fixed vessel bottom, while the ventilation quantity per unit time in relation to the intake hole 19 of the fixed vessel bottom, the intake hole 4a of the polishing vessel cover and the dust collector 6, are mutually interlocked/controlled. If a suction works/media selection mechanism is provided in the dust collector 6, works selected as non-refined rice can be manufactured into refined polished rice useful for sake brewing, etc.
