To provide an electric stapler which can form U-shaped staples different in the length of a staple leg and can staple sheets of stapling paper different in thickness.
In this electric stapler, a staple guide plate 16 having a driving part 6 formed in the fore end, a forming mechanism 19 forming a staple material 2 into the U-shaped staple and a driving mechanism 20 so designed as to drive out the staple formed in the U shape from a driving path are held in a forming/driving part 5 constituted to be fitted removably to the electric stapler 1. Moreover, a staple cartridge 4 holding the straight staple materials 2 is so formed as to be fitted removably to the electric stapler 1. The forming/driving part 5 and the staple cartridge 4 are combined and the staples having arbitrary leg lengths are formed and driven in. A plurality of kinds of the forming/driving parts varied in the dimension of the crown width of the staple are prepared and arbitrary one of these parts is combined with the staple cartridge and fitted to the electric stapler. Thereby stapling with the staples different in the leg length is enabled by the same electric stapler and the sheets of stapling paper different in the thickness can be stapled adequately.
