PURPOSE: To make it possible to use an electrode entire side surface of which is coated with an anti-oxidation agent and extend the life of the electrode by performing the mechanical hold of the electrode with a holder and performing the electrical supply to the electrode with a conductor press-attached to the top surface of an electrode different from the holder.
CONSTITUTION: A holder 3 is provided with a tightening body 6 to be freely advanced or retracted relative to the side surface of an electrode 5 and located in a holder body 4. Connecting the tightening body 6 to an air cylinder 9 via a clamp lever 7 and a connecting rod 8, the electrode 5 is tightened with a spring force of a spring 10 and is released with a drive force of the air cylinder 9. On the other hand, a conductor 11 made of a thick copper plate of a size to cover the top surface 12 of the electrode 5 is freely detachably press-attached to a top portion of a topmost electrode 5a by means of a tightening piece 14 consisting of a nipple attached to a thread hole for electrode connection drilled on the top end portion of the electrode 5a. With this constitution, holding and change of holding of the electrode are performed with the holder 3 while the electric supply to the electrode 5 is performed through the conductor press- attached to the top surface 12.
