Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain an electromagnetic wave shielding (vulcanized) rubber composition with high strength comprised of an ethylene-α olefin copolymer, an electroconductive metal and a zinc acrylate compound and having excellent characteristics of the rubber and electromagnetic wave shielding characteristics.
CONSTITUTION: (A) an ethylene-α olefin copolymer rubber and/or an ethylene-α olefin-non-conjugated diene copolymer rubber (ethylene-propylene-ethylidene- norbornene copolymer rubber is suitable) are compounded with (B) 1-20 pts.vol., preferably 2-10 pts.vol. electroconductive metal (e.g. stainless steel, silver, copper) to 100 pts.vol. A and (C) 0.1-100 pts.wt., preferably 1-50 pts.wt. zinc acrylate compound (e.g. zinc acrylate hydroxide) of the formula (R is H or 1-8 alkyl; m is 1 or 2; k is 0 or 1) and, when needed, with carbon black, an organic peroxide, a vulcanization accelerator, etc., to obtain an electromagnetic wave shielding rubber composition and a vulcanized one.
