PURPOSE: To make it possible to print characters and the like, in the electronic equipment with the printing device which can be grasped by a hand and by which the printing can be performed on arbitrary printing paper that is placed at a separate position, by generating printing signals by manual operation, and moving the device on the printing paper.

CONSTITUTION: A keyboard KY is arranged on the upper surface of the electric equipment DN. A key group KY1 for specifying a printing dot pitch, a printing direction specifying switch KY2 in the longitudinal and lateral directions, and a printing command key KY3 are provided. A roller RO is rotated when the electronic equipment is moved. A timing signal is generated by an optical slit and a light projecting and receiving device. When said timing signal becomes equal to the printing dot pitch information, which is inputted from the numerical value key KY1, one line of a character generator pattern is printed by an ink jet printer IJ. By the same way, the line printings are sequentially performed, and the characters are formed by several lines.
