To obtain an electronic imaging device which automatically transmits image data.
An electronic still camera 100 includes three operation modes of an 'imaging mode', a 'regeneration mode', and a 'transfer mode'. A CPU 7 controls imaging and recording operations by a CCD 1, a CDS circuit 2, an A-D converter 3, a DSP circuit 4, and a compressing/expanding circuit 5 in the 'imaging mode'. The CPU 7 controls a regenerating operation by the compressing/expanding circuit 5, an encoder 8 and a liquid crystal display 9 in the 'regeneration mode'. The CPU 7 controls the transmission of the image data by an external interface circuit 15 in the 'transfer mode'. The 'imaging mode' and the 'regeneration mode' are switched by an operation mode changeover switch 10. The 'transfer mode' is automatically switched at each predetermined interval. The CPU 7 designates the transmission of the image data to the interface circuit 15 when the present time coincides with a transfer time.
