To provide a video camera which can dispose a power switch and an attachment/detachment locking mechanism 3 all at a camera section 1 and a recording/reproducing unit 2, that is, can separately dispose them at the camera section and the recording/reproducing unit.

The video camera comprises: the recording/reproducing unit 2; the attachment/detachment locking mechanism 3; and a stopper mechanism for interlocking with the operation of the power switch. In this camera, the power switch and the stopper mechanism are attached to the camera section 1. The locking mechanism 3 is attached to the recording/reproducing unit 2. The camera section 1 and the recording/reproducing unit 2 can be mounted or removed in the state that the power switch is OFF, and cannot be mounted nor removed in the state that the power switch is ON.
