PURPOSE: To obtain an electrostatic precipitator having high dust collecting efficiency by providing shield plates which have electrically insulating property and dielectric property and disturb the flow of air at an inlet of a dust collecting part, inside the dust collecting part, etc.
CONSTITUTION: In an electrostatic precipitator in which a dust collecting electrode is constituted of at least a set of electrodes, that is, a charging electrode 21, dust collecting high voltage electrodes 22, a 1st earth electrode 31 and a 2nd earth electrode 32 which are insulated from each other and potential difference is applied between the electrodes to collect dust 200 in air charged in the electric field of a corona, shield plates 52, 53 which have insulating property and dielectric property are installed in an inlet of the dust collecting part and/or the dust collecting electrode part to disturb the flow of air in the dust collecting electrode part. As a result, since air introduced into the dust collecting part generates turbulence in the flow and moves toward the electrode surface, dust collection is easily affected by the coulomb force to increase the dust collecting efficiency.
