PURPOSE: To reduce the overall size and to enable high speed printing by providing a thermal head to be mounted on a non-rotary member in order to heat an image carrier film selectively and to make a plate and a transfer film winding means for winding a transfer film being peeled off from an existing image carrier film.

CONSTITUTION: An output signal of a document image is amplified and fed to a thermal head 7 and when the thermal head 7 is heated selectively along the document image, insulating film at the heating section is transferred to the side of a transfer film 5D. When plate making is carried out, a platen roller 6 pressure contacting with the thermal head 7 through an image carrier film 5 is rotary driven. At the same time, the transfer film 5D peeled off from an existing image carrier film 5 and the image carrier film 5 finished of printing operation are wound around a winding reel 14. When printing operation starts to rotate a plate cylinder 3, the thermal head 7 is separated from the platen roller 6. Once a document image is read out and printing process is repeated for every rotation of the plate cylinder 3, prints of such number as corresponding to the repeating times of printing operation can be obtained.
