PURPOSE: To simplify structure by providing a constitution equipped with an elevating car elevating by the length of a support, and a pair of ropes wound out from a winder to hangingly hold the elevating car via respective pulleys and sheaves.

CONSTITUTION: This elevator is equipped with; a pair of supports 2 vertically provided on a base 1, a pair of rails fixed to the supports 2 in their longitudinal direction, a pair of sheaves 4 in nearby the upper end parts of the respective supports 2, a winder 5 and a pair of pulleys 6 provided on the base 1, an elevating car 7 providing guide shoes 7A, slidable to the respective rails, on side surfaces and elevating by the length of the supports 2, and a pair of ropes 8 wound out from the winder 5 and hangingly holding the car 7 via the respective pulleys 6 and sheaves 4. When the ropes 8 are wound on the winder 5, the car 7 is elevated with the shoes 7A slidably moved on the rails, and the upper end parts of the car 7 positioned in the upper part than the sheaves 4 on the uppermost part, and is lowered with the wire 8 unwound. Consequently a movable support is not needed, and the car 7 can be directly and hangingly held on the supports 2, thereby simplifying structure.
