To provide an embroidering machine having the function of transferring an embroidery frame in the event of thread breakage, for transferring the embroidery frame rearwards if thread breakage occurs during execution of embroidering action, thus making it easier to pass a thread; and a method for transferring the embroidery frame.

The embroidering machine includes: embroidery frame driving parts 120 and 220 for transferring the embroidery frame rearwards according to control signals; thread breakage sensing parts 130 and 230 for sensing the breakage of an embroidery thread and then producing a thread breakage sensing signal; and control parts 150 and 250 for producing the control signals for controlling the embroidery frame driving parts 120 and 220 when the thread breakage sensing signal is inputted thereto from the thread breakage sensing parts, so that the embroidery frame is transferred rearwards.
