To provide an earthquake energy absorbing body applicable on a narrow part between a pair of columns and capable of regulating deformation area of an energy absorbing member.
A pair of the columns 3 and 4 are arranged between upper and lower beams 1 and 2, and both ends are fixed on the beams 1 and 2 so as to constitute a frame structure. Fitting members 5 and 6 are fitted on surfaces 3a and 4a confronting the columns 3 and 4 by a bolt 8 or welding. Plural energy absorbing members 7 are detachably fitted onto the fitting members 5 and 6. The energy absorbing member 7 is made of low yield point steel and fastened between a regulating member 11 and the fitting members 5 and 6 so that deformation toward the outside of the surface is restrained and the earthquake energy actuating in the surface direction is absorbed. Further, both ends parts of the energy absorbing member 7 made of the low yield point steel are restrained by the regulating member 11. Thus, the deformation area of the energy absorbing member 7 is regulated.
