Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an engine for enabling the calculation of the weight of EGR gas based on the operating condition.SOLUTION: The engine includes an EGR device for recirculating part of exhaust gas as EGR gas into intake air. It further includes an EGR valve for restricting the weight of the EGR gas, an intake pressure detecting sensor and an exhaust pressure detecting sensor as pressure difference detecting means for detecting a pressure difference between an intake pressure and an exhaust pressure, and an ECU as a control device for changing an EGR valve opening G of the EGR valve to adjust the weight of the EGR gas. The ECU includes a plurality of effective passage cross section area maps Mx for calculating an effective passage cross section area of the EGR device from the EGR valve opening and the EGR pressure difference. The effective passage cross section area is calculated from one effective passage cross section area map Mx selected out of the plurality of effective passage cross section area maps M1, M2, M3, M4.
