This equipment includes a visual line detecting means for detecting an observer's sight line; an area selecting means for dividing the screen of the equipment into a plurality of areas for control of the various movements of the equipment and for selecting an area from which information should be obtained according to the output of the sight line detecting means; a fixation point distribution computing means for obtaining information about a plurality of positions of visual lines when the observer fixes his sight at the same point; and a varying means for varying either the size of the area (70-74 or 70, 72 and 74) to be selected by the area selecting means or the number of areas and the size of each area.
