Abstract:
PURPOSE:To eliminate the dispersion in evaluation for the width of meshes and to save the man-hours for the evaluating work by extracting the abnormally thick part of mesh width from the photographed image of a melon, and evaluating the mesh width of the melon based on the extracted result. CONSTITUTION:A melon (a), which is lit with a light source 1, is photographed with an image input device 2. An image processing device 4 performs the binary coding of the picked-up image and extracts the meshes of the melon (a). The matrix size of a space filter is determined so as to extract a part exceeding a specified width among the meshes. The filtering is performed by using the preset filter. The part of the meshes, wherein the luminance is not changed, is made to be a 0, and the part, wherein the luminance is changed, is made to be a 1. Thus the binary coding is performed. In this way, the part of the meshes exceeding the specified width is extracted. The image, whose size is less than the specified value is removed from the image. The total area of the image after the removal is measured. The area if compared with the specified value beta. When the area is wider (narrower) than the value beta, it is judged that the distribution of the wide parts is large (small) in the meshes.
