Abstract:

To provide a failure determination device for an airflow sensor in which the accuracy of determining a failure is increased.

The failure determination device 1 for the airflow sensor 22 comprises an intake throttle valve opening sensor 26 detecting the intake throttle valve opening θisv of an intake throttle valve mechanism 7, upstream side and downstream side intake pressure sensors 24, 25 positioned near the intake throttle valve mechanism 7 and detecting intake pressures p21, p22 on the upstream side and the downstream side, an intake temperature sensor 23 detecting the intake temperature T21 near the intake throttle valve mechanism 7, and an ECU 2. The ECU 2 calculates the estimated value Gair_est of the airflow according to the intake throttle valve opening θisv, the upstream side intake pressure p21, the downstream side intake pressure p22, and the intake temperature T21 (steps 2 to 4), and determines the failure of the airflow sensor 22 based on the results of the comparison of the estimated value Gair_est of the airflow with the detected value Gair_sen of the airflow detected with the signals detected by the airflow sensor 22 (steps 6 to 12).
