To provide a fastening device for fixing a collet member to a chuck member.
This collet member has a top side of a surrounding shoulder part on the rear side provided with a thrust surface 29 engaged with a fastening ball 17 displaceable in the radial direction of the chuck member. A bottom side of the shoulder part corresponds to four centering cams 12 provided in the chuck member in dimension and place and is provided with four centering grooves 30 to cooperate with the cams 12. When the collet member is fastened to the chuck member, the collet member is positioned in not only an angular orientation around a Z-axis but also X- and Y-directions by the centering cams 12 of the chuck member engaged with the centering grooves 30 of the collet member. To limit an exact position of the collet member in a Z-direction, the collet member is provided with an annular rear surface to be rested on a Z-reference surface part of the chuck member when fastening the collect member to the chuck member.
