To achieve full automation of a series of winding processes which require the core moving mechanism of a core holding means and which include cutting a film when it is fully wound, taking the fully wound film roll out of a machine, and supplying and coupling to a core chuck a new core to which a film adhesive has been applied.
A portion by which narrow film rolls wR, wR' are hung down and moved horizontally consists of an arm shaft, rotatably supported against a bearing block secured to the lower surface of an external locking member 1, and an arm shaft rotation means 14 which can control rotation of the arm shaft to a certain angle; therefore, this film winding device is small and compact in structure as compared with the prior art and can reduce facility cost, and in a rewinding operation which after formation of a fully wound roll winds the next roll, the fully wound roll is received by lifters 22, 22' that rise from immediately below, and the lifters 22, 22' carrying the fully wound roll fall without being hindered by external members, since core holding arms are freely hung down.
